More than “legal” or “illegal”
Adult-use cannabis, medical programs, and hemp are separate questions, not one yes-or-no label.
Cannabis rules can differ by state, product, and program. Adult-use frameworks, medical access, and hemp-derived products should not be treated as interchangeable. A broad state label can hide distinctions that matter.
A state can have separate frameworks for medical cannabis, adult-use cannabis, and hemp. Regulatory rules, public-health guidance, and a property owner’s policies answer different questions. Check which authority issued a document, its effective date, and whether it describes an enacted rule or a proposal.
Our four starting-state guides link to official information for Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Missouri. City pages add official municipal portals and questions to check locally. They are not a complete review of local ordinances. Read current rules from the responsible authorities, and seek qualified legal guidance for your circumstances.
